Alumni Stories: From Vallejo VLL to High School and Beyond

The journey of a Vallejo Little League (VLL) player doesn't end when they age out at 13. For decades, our diamonds have served as the training ground for young athletes who go on to achieve greatness in high school sports, college academics, and even the Major Leagues .

A Legacy of Legends

Vallejo has a storied history of producing baseball icons who got their start on our local fields. When your player steps onto the dirt, they are following in the footsteps of true legends:

  • CC Sabathia: A proud graduate of North Vallejo Little League, CC went from our local mounds to a 19-year MLB career, winning 251 games and earning a first-ballot induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He has never forgotten his roots, even renovating Thurmon Field—his former Little League home—to support the next generation of Vallejo athletes
  • Bill Buckner: Born in Vallejo, Buckner and his brother Jim played Little League right here in town before Bill embarked on a 21-season MLB career. With over 2,700 career hits, he remains one of the most accomplished hitters to ever come out of the Vallejo area.

Building More Than Just Athletes

At VLL, we believe the lessons learned between the lines—resilience, teamwork, and discipline—are the same tools needed for success in the "real world." Whether our alumni are pitching for a local high school varsity team or leading a project in their chosen career, the foundation was laid right here in Vallejo.
