Volunteer Safety Requirements: Little League SAFE Training

The safety and well-being of our players is the top priority of Vallejo Little League. To ensure a secure environment, Little League International has modernized its safety approach through the SAFE (Safety Awareness For Everyone) program.

Mandatory Training Requirements

All volunteers—including coaches, managers, board members, and any other regular volunteers—must complete the following training annually before assuming any duties for the current season:

  • Abuse Awareness Training: This course is required to help volunteers recognize and prevent misconduct and abuse.
  • Diamond Leader Training: Now required for all volunteers. This course focuses on the social and emotional well-being of youth athletes.
  • First Aid Awareness: Provides a practical overview of injury prevention and basic first aid response.
  • Safety Awareness Training: Provides an overview of core risk management practices.

Eligibility for Playoffs and All-Stars

Compliance is not optional for those wishing to participate in post-season play. Compliance is tracked at the team level. Teams and players will be ruled ineligible for league playoffs and All-Star tournaments if their coaches and associated volunteers have not completed these requirements in a timely manner. Certificates are valid from October 1st through September 30th and must be renewed each season.
