Tee Ball Division

Tee Ball is the entry-level division for our youngest players and often a family’s first introduction to Vallejo Little League. The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals, providing a supportive environment to grow a child’s love for the game.

Division Overview

  • Primary Focus: Learning the basics of hitting, base running, and fielding in a non-competitive setting.
  • Format: Players hit the ball off a stationary batting tee rather than a pitched ball to ensure success and active participation.
  • Age Group: Open to boys and girls, typically league ages 4-6.
  • Commitment: The program is designed to be manageable for young families, typically featuring 1-2 practices per week and games on weekends.

Rules

The primary goal of Tee Ball is to provide a positive introduction to the game through a non-competitive environment.

  • Batting: Every player on the roster bats each inning. There are no strikeouts; players swing until the ball is hit into play .
  • Base Running: Runners advance one base at a time. The inning ends when the final batter in the lineup "clears the bases" by running all the way home .
  • Defense: All players on the roster typically play in the field simultaneously to keep everyone engaged .
  • Umpiring: Official umpires are not used; coaches or parents manage the flow of the game and provide instruction on the field .
