## Gear Up for the 2027 Season: Equipment Checklist

As the 2027 season approaches, we want to ensure our players have everything they need to stay safe and play their best. Here is a checklist of required and recommended equipment for our baseball and softball players (ages 4-16).

### Required Equipment:

- **Fielding Glove:** Ensure the glove is broken in and fits your child's hand properly.
- **Baseball/Softball Cleats:** Molded rubber cleats are required. No metal spikes are allowed for these age groups.
- **Athletic Supporter (Boys):** Required for all male players, especially catchers and infielders.
- **Uniform Pants/Belt/Socks:** Required for T-Ball, Rookies, and Farm. Your coach will specify the colors needed to match your team jersey.

### Bat Requirements:

**Baseball**

- **T-Ball through Majors:** Bats must bear the USA Baseball (USABat) logo and have a barrel no larger than 2 5/8". T-Ball bats must feature the USA Baseball mark and accompanying text.
- **Senior:** All bats must be BBCOR.
- All BPF 1.15 bats are prohibited, so USSSA "1.15 BPF" bats are not permitted.
- Pine tar may be used on the handle or grip only, never on the barrel or over the certification mark. Bats may not be altered.

**Softball**

- Non-wood bats must be printed with a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.20.
- Pine tar and similar substances are prohibited.
- Bats with cracks or sharp edges, or that will not pass through the 2-1/4" bat ring, must be removed from play.

In July 2026, USA Baseball announced a rebranded "USA BBCOR" standard. Little League has stated this does not affect the 2027 season. Rules can change, so check the official [Little League Bat Information](https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-information/) and [Bat Rules](https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/bat-rules/) pages before buying a new bat.

### Recommended Items:

- **Batting Helmet:** Players should have their own for hygiene and a proper fit.
- **Bat Bag:** To keep all gear organized and easy to carry to the dugout.
- **Water Bottle:** Please label it with your child's name. Staying hydrated is essential!
- **Batting Gloves:** Optional, but helpful for grip and preventing blisters.

### League Provided Gear:

- **Uniform Pants/Belt/Socks:** Provided for Farm, Minors, Majors, and Seniors
- **Team Jersey:** Provided for all divisions
- **Team Hat:** Provided for all divisions
- **Catcher's Gear:** Available for team use

**Pro-Tip:** Please use a permanent marker to write your child's name on the inside of their hat, glove, and helmet. Gear often looks identical in the dugout!
